At its general meeting in Brussels at the end of April 1999, the Association of European Laminate Floor Producers had the pleasure to welcome four new members: DecoLam (Belgium), Arjo Wiggins S.A. (France), StoraEnso Laminating Papers Ltd. (Finland) and WKP - Württembergische Kunststoffplattenwerke GmbH & Co. KG (Germany).
DecoLam, which has its head office in the Belgian Mouscron, is a well reputed producer of branded laminate floorings. With the product lines 'Decostep' and 'Action Floor', the company has been active at the European market since 1995. The production capacity of the company amounts to approximately 2.5 million m2 per year. With DecoLam the number of full members of the EPLF has now reached 18. Companies can only apply for full membership of the EPLF if they are producers of laminate floorings and over a time span of at least one year can prove that they are capable of producing goods of perfect quality.
Arjo Wiggins, StoraEnso Laminating Papers Ltd. and WKP are all active as international suppliers for the laminate flooring industry. As such they are entitled to join as associate members. Arjo Wiggins, Paris, is an international paper group with a wide production range. Included in the range of products are for example fine papers, coated papers and special technical papers such as papers impregnated with synthetic resin. Arjo Wiggins is certified in accordance with the ecological standard ISO 14001.
WKP, which has its head office in Unterensingen, Germany, belongs to the producers of high quality surface coatings with a world-wide reputation. The product palette of the company includes high-grade melamine resin films, technical casting papers as well as decorative finish foils. In the company's own printing-works these products can be printed with numerous wood or fantasy plant designs. WKP can draw on the experience of 30 years in the wood derived products and furniture industry.
The Finnish company, StoraEnso Laminating Papers Ltd., in Imatra counts as one of the leading producers of base-craft papers and phenolic resin papers, which can be used in numerous ways in the production of laminate floorings. StoraEnso Laminating Papers Ltd. has been in the market for over 40 years and the company has been able to systematically consolidate its position through continuous investment into research and development.
